Team Review: 9th Place "Smokin' Joe"

5-9. 103 points per game.

We all know the story, one time Joe put up what was then a record week and voted himself number 1 based on his blow-up. Since then, Joe has struggled to put together huge seasons and last year was no different, which was surprising to a few members of the league. In fact, I thought Joe had the potential to be a league favorite, and I expected big things out of Jake Locker, Michael Floyd, and Alexander Robinson.

What went right: He hit 148 and 149 early in the season and I thought he was going to roll the rest of the way, but soon after he hit a 5-game losing streak where he didn't reach 100. Joe ended the year winning 2 straight, including his bowl game and will look to carry that into next year. He had a little used QB in Nathan Scheelhause that may run more this year without Mikel LeShoure getting 400 touches a game.

What went wrong: Jake Locker still can't throw a ball straight. Michael Floyd decided 3 games was enough on the year (averaged 48 FOURTY-EIGHT per game in the 3 he played) and he also decided drinking was more fun. The North Carolina D (the only one in town) suspended 11/11ths or so of it's starting unit and averaged 3 ppg when Joe started them. Ouch.

What the boosters are saying: "We're happy with Joe, he's had a few off-field problems that need to get cleaned up, but we've all seen his potential. I'll keep pouring my money to the program as long as this guy is running the show."
